Trouble Joining the General Union

How my trouble with the General Union started.

I was wanting to form a union at my school for me and the other teachers without any representation so I went to the General Union website and read the information. It sounded like what I needed So I clicked the join button and then I filled out the requested information submitted it and was asked to pay dues for a month or a year. I picked a year. I wasn't going anywhere soon.

I requested information in Japanese and English.
No reply.

I requested someone to contact me...
No reply.

I figured someone would contact me eventually it's a union right, they want more members right? They will contact me... and they did read on.

Trouble with the General Union - First Contact

Dear Mr. Shoemaker,

I apologize as I thought that we had already spoken to you about your membership in our union.

Since you are in the Kanto area, you need to apply for membership to our sister union, NUGW Tokyo Nambu.

You can find their contact details at http://nugwnambu.org/.

We will also be refunding your latest paypal payment.

Sincerely,

Dennis Tesolat

Better late than never, is the rest of the union this unresponsive to it's members? I was thinking I was stupid to pay a years membership fees. AND what ever chance there was of getting a Union going at my school is dead. The others now believe that this union is not worth joining because it doesn't take any action for it's members.
SO Thank you for making an ass out of me, and... well nothing.
I don't want or need your apology, I needed some damn advice.

Please feel free to print this email and post it as a lesson on how to lose members and confidence in the Union.
You may include my name.

Dear Mr Shoemaker,
I didn't know that you were a member of our union. I do know that you are someone with his own problem that unilaterally paid one year's dues without talking to anyone. Does this make you a member? No.

It makes you someone who has their own issue and now wants the union to jump. I do admit that we were late getting back to you, but did you do anything in the meantime? If it had been me who unilaterally paid union dues to some union and they hadn't responded, you can rest assured that I would have been CALLING everyday. I'm sorry to say that your indignation does not register, but your feeling of self-entitlement does.
To claim now that you were a member and therefore deserve help is deplorable and you may sure pass along my email to the teachers at your school on 'how not to organize a union'.
But you don't want to hear that now, do you? You want to hear that others failed you. I'm sorry brother, but unions don't work that way. You should figure that out before sending attacking emails when others have sent you their apologies, not out of feeling apologetic, but out a sense of politeness. Maybe that doesn't register with you and I should have sent an email with this tone instead.
I must say that after seeing your attitude, I'm happy that I don't have to work with you, as you appear to be so self absorbed that you wouldn't make a very good union member anyhow.
So the next time you, Mr-Johnny-come-lately, decide to join a union, you should check all the facts yourself and not rely on others to drop everything they're doing to help you with your problem.

What an ass you are.
DO you want to know my problem?
How to get a union started at my school.
If you had taken the time to read one of the three emails I sent, you
would know that.
Yes, It would have been nice for you to send an email on how to start a union.
Because I'm a man who sits around whining about what I want people to
do for me...
You know what I'm going to do with your garbage email?
1st I'm going to attach it to my application to the Tokyo Nambu Union.
2nd I'm putting it on the front of my website, www.japan.survival-links.com.
3rd I'm posting it on Mixi in the foreigner's section.
4th I'm posting it on any other website I can find.

You have 10 minutes to call me, after that you can read this on the
front of my website...
I only get a few thousand hits a month.

Do as you must. I'm sure that most level headed people will agree with me.

My reply &Theirs....the end.

My REPLY--------------

Don't worry I'm not changing a word.
You went off on someone without knowing what you were talking about.
That is what I want people to know.
